Japanese wool product imports from January to March decreases 18% from same period last year

The Japanese import of wool products from January to March 2008 remained at 5.6 million pieces, a drop of 18% from the same period last year. Men's outerwear which accounted for 75% of the imports decreased by 5%, but wool knitwear drastically decreased by 56% and women's apparel went down by 15%.

The import of suits from men's outerwear remained at 2.2 million pieces, a decrease of 5% from the same period last year, and of those 1.98 million pieces were from China, which was down by 6%, followed by 116 thousand pieces from Vietnam, up by 16%, and Myanmar came third with 40 thousand pieces, a drop of 28%, and India came fourth with 26 thousand pieces, up by 11%.
