Inditex (Zara) increases net profit in fiscal 2007 by 25% |
|
The business performance of Spanish SPA group Inditex, which includes Zara,
in 2007 was favorable. Its sales reached 9,435 million euros, 15% up on the previous
year and the net profit was 1,250 million euros, 25% increase owing to both the
weak dollar and cost reductions.
The company is promoting two brands, "Bershka", which targets fashion-conscious
young people, and "Massimo Dutti", which gives an upmarket feel and
the range of new stores for this year is between 560 and 640, including the launch
of a new retail outlet specializing in accessories, named "Uterque".
The company has suggested it will be continuing with cost reductions as well
as revising its marketing strategy in Asia.
