According to an industry source, BASF has added a new color item Helizarin EVOP 100 to its line. This ink meets the criteria for Oeko-Tex Standard 100, the safety standard for textiles.

Listing prevention for rotary screen printing

According to an industry source, a printing firm in northern Taiwan has been successfully preventing listing while they carry out printing with a rotary screen of 72 cm printing width and 125-mesh. Thickeners would partially cake if pure natural ones were used and since the caked part tends to create listing problems, as a countermeasure, they are using printing thickeners in combination with agents and special synthetic thickeners besides CMC, which can prevent listing.

Much emphasis on era of revolution and technical innovation
Toray held its 80th anniversary high-tech material symposium at Hall C in Tokyo International Forum on September 27, and it was a great success with a full audience.
Mr. Sadayuki Sakakibara, president of Toray, said, "Toray is heading to become an innovation-focused company to carve out its future," in his opening speech to the symposium and Mr. Hiroaki Kobayashi, vice president of Toray, expanded on this saying, "we intend to pursue technological limits with 4 core technologies, those of (1) high polymer chemistry, (2) organic chemistry, (3) biotechnology and (4) nanotechnology."
This was followed by 4 special guest lectures. The lecturers were Mr. Ryoji Noyori, president of RIKEN and University Professor of Nagoya University, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Mr. Alan J.Heeger, Presidential Chair, Professor of Physics, Professor of Materials University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) who also won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Mr. Yoonwoo Lee, Vice Chairman, Corporate CTO & Global Collaboration, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd (SEC) and Mr. Randall A. Harley, Vice President of Engineering & Technology Boeing Commercial Airplanes 787 Program.
The common theme in their lectures was revolutionizing everything, suppressing conventional ways of thinking and approaching comprehensive scientific governance based on a theory of civilization encompassing future generations. Mr. Yoonwoo Lee who described visions and strategies of booming Samsung Electronics said, "Samsung Electronics had implemented a revolutionary change that said we should change everything but wives and children. At first, awareness of the need for revolution did not sink in in the company, not even among executives, but the impact of the currency crisis made them admit it. With Toray, we mutually suggest a win-win model through our partnership in areas associated with technical innovations such as semiconductors, displays, energy, biotechnology and analytical technology."
