Kuraray, Tekken and Public Works Research Institute
have developed construction method for strengthening tunnels
using high-strength fiber reinforced mortar.

Strengthened inner tunnel lining loading test

Tekken Corporation and Kuraray Co., Ltd. in collaboration with the Public Works Research Institute have developed a "Highly intensive thin-wall-reinforcing construction method" for strengthening the inner walls of tunnels using high-strength fiber-reinforced mortar.

The method uses mortar mixed with short-fiber content with superior compressive strength and toughness as the inner tunnel strengthening material and combining it with continuous fiber reinforced mesh as tensile reinforcing material, and has been developed for the functional restoration and reinforcement of lining concrete damaged by age-related degradation and earth pressure caused by the mountainous terrain. They have established this designing and construction method after verifying enough reinforcing effect by carrying out the loading test with an actual-size test specimen at the Public Works Research Institute.

Toyobo and RIKEN jointly developed low-molecular microarray which does not rely on functional groups.

フォトリンカーチップ

Toyobo and chief scientist Mr. Osada from RIKEN's Discovery Research Institute have developed a low-molecular microarray "Photo-linker Chip," and started its promotion.

Since it can fix any compound not relying on functional groups of low molecular weight compounds, it makes it possible to produce low-molecular microarrays more easily and in less time than ever before.
Through using "Photo-linker Chip" and Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) imaging "MultiSPRinter" for analysis of low-molecular microarrays in combination, coherence between the candidate substance for new drugs and the targeted protein can be observed in far less time than in the conventional way, which enables the screening of new drugs binding to proteins.
