Independent efforts promoted in dyeing industries responding to
regulation on volatile organic compounds.
The dyeing and printing industry has initiated preparations with voluntary efforts and legislation combined, responding to the revised anti-pollution regulation that took effect from April 1, 2006 for effluent control of volatile organic compounds. Coating, laminate and terpene for printing are subject to regulation.
Obtaining ISO14001 certification, Japanese dyeing industry
pushed into a corner.
There are an increasing number of pressing issues in the Japanese dyeing industry such as a use regulation on volatile organic compounds, eliminating chemical substances in the air inside factories (including odor control), drainage measures and CO2 reduction. Sakai Nagoya has gained ISO14001 certification to carry out those measures reasonably, and other firms are now forced to obtain ISO14001 certification.
Situation for dyeing and printing in China from January to May 2006,
2-digit increase in production, but growth rate slows.

Kaneka develops new injection molding resin with nanocomposite technology.
Kaneka (H.O.: Osaka) has established its own nanocomposite technology which micro-disperses nano filler (additive) into engineered resins such as polyester and polyamide, and has successfully developed new injection functional molding resins, "Kaneka Hyper Lite JN" and "Kaneka Hyper Lite JA."
There has been a problem with polyester resin in that the viscosity increases because a large amount of filler needs to be added to develop the same properties as a resin using glass fiber. Kaneka, however, established the technology for homogeneous dispersion of nano-sized filler which can improve the properties of the resin with just a small addition.
"Kaneka Hyper Lite JN" is based on polyester resin with excellent formability and lower gaseous contents. "Kaneka Hyper Lite JA" is based on nylon resin, and poor dimension stability after water absorption was overcome, this had been a shortcoming of the nylon series.
Kawasaki Sanko Kasei and Kuraray jointly set up plastic compound base
in south of China.
Kawasaki Sanko Kasei, a plastic compound manufacturer (H.O.: Yokohama, Kanagawa) and Kuraray (H.O.: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will jointly set up a plastic compound factory (starting with 10,000t/y production) in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province in China. They have already established a new joint business "JAPAN SUPER ENGINEERING PLASTICS (ZHONGSHAN) CO., LTD" at a development area in Zhongshan City starting from April 26, 2006 and began factory construction in August, planning to operate from spring 2007.
