Various attempts at digital printing of kimono patterns on shirts
are conspicuous in Kyoto.
Screen printing plates manufacturers cooperate in data processing.
Screen printing firms in Kyoto have created design patterns for shirts inspired by kimono patterns, and are considering direct-to-consumer sales in the SPA (Specialty store retailer of Private label Apparel) system after ink-jet printing(digital printing) on shirting and sewing. Manufacturers producing and supplying printing plates to screen printing firms are exploring digital printing business by providing image modification technology for making printing plates with CAD, color separation, individual plates and coloration.
3 of Kyoto’s single cloth Yuzen manufacturers are shifting to ink-jet printing.
Nomura Senko, single cloth Yuzen printers of Kyoto, has adopted Toshin Kogyo’s ink-jet printing machine and started a promotion called Graphic Yuzen on a commercial basis. 2 competitors in Kyoto have increased the intensity of their effort on Yuzen printing with ink-jets. As it turns out, a total of 3 companies have switched to ink-jets for Yuzen printing.
Huntsman, Clariant, Sumitomo Chemical and Nippon Kayaku
provide their data to Net CCM of IS Co., Ltd.
Net CCM (Computer Color Matching on the Net) which has patents pending in 3 countries, Japan, China and India has been provided on the internet site “textileinfo.com” available in 3 languages, Japanese, English and Chinese by IS Co., Ltd./Senshoku Keizai Shimbun. For the Net CCM, Huntsman Advanced Materials (formerly of the Textile Effects Segment of Ciba Specialty Chemicals), Clariant, Sumitomo Chemical/Sumika Chemtex and Nippon Kayaku provided their basic data of dyestuffs.
As well as promoting new dyestuffs, these 4 companies are aiming to support swift color planning for apparel companies, taking notice that IS Co., Ltd./Senshoku Keizai Shimbun’s internet site “textileinfo.com” has been establishing an online community for textile processing.
IS Co., Ltd. /Senshoku Keizai Shimbun has started the preparation for putting data of other dyestuff manufacturers into Net CCM sequentially. Even though color is decided on Net CCM, that color may not be expressed if the dyeing process is flawed, so an increasing number of articles on dyeing know-how have been put on the site as well.
Software to create wild stripes effectively is developed
to support self-developed textile designing.
Yamanashi Pref. Fuji Industrial Technology Center and Furuya Orimono have simplified the process of textile designing with a general-purpose computer, and to support the creation of new design, ① newly developed “wild stripe maker,” software to create any wild stripe patterns effectively ② compiled the process of color arrangement in making jacquard data in a manual, and ③ established a method to create jacquard patterns based on any images with image binarization treatment technology.
Many suggestions to be made on desired items
to domestic dyestuff manufacturers to improve vat dyeing in China.
There is large-scale production of vat dyes in China. Demand for vat dyes is more than in Japan. An increasing number of dyeing firms in China consider that vat dyes with high fastness need to be used effectively to enhance international competitiveness.
Currently Chinese vat dyes under 2 microns in size are increasing for the granule type, but with the rough-grained granule type being larger than the granule type it is now hoped to make it smaller.
There is some kind of vat dye which produces photo degradation, and a solution to this problem is now called for.
